Pre-University Programme

The Pre-University Programme is of 2 years duration. The college offers coeducation.

The Programme of study comprise of Part-I and Part-II. The candidates shall select anyone of the subject-combinations under Part-II depending upon their future academic interest and pursuit and have to choose One of the languages from Part-I as a language of study apart from English, which is compulsory. In total a student of PUC has to study SIX subjects a year.

Eligibility

Admission to First Year Pre-University Programme is open to candidates who have passed in 10th or equivalent examination from a recognized institution either in Karnataka or in other States of India. Candidates seeking admission from outside of Karnataka should submit Migration Certificate issued from a competent authority.

Submission of Application

Candidates seeking admission into Pre- University Programme should submit the following:

  • Duly filled-in Application form with the Copy of the Provisional marks card issued by school should be submitted by the students in person
  • Confirmation of Admission

  • Admission of candidate to FIRST PUC will be confirmed only after the submission of all the following documents as asked.
  • Original SSLC Marks Card, Transfer Certificate, Conduct Certificate, Study Certificate of 10th satndard (All in Originals)
  • Caste Certificate is compulsory for Category I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB, SC and ST students.
  • Copies of Aadhar Card, Bank Pass book in the name of student, 10 recent passport color photos, 5 stamp size photos, Blood Group Certificate, Migration Certificate in original (for CBSE / ICSE / OTHER Board),

Special Coaching

In today’s rapidly changing and increasingly challenging times, WIDIA Poorna Prajna PU College offers an academic framework which is rigorous and responsive to the demands of the digital age.

It aims to develop inquisitive minds, critical thinking and self directed learning by laying proper foundation and honing the students’ power of reasoning and analysis. Towards this, the academically weaker students are given special and intensive coaching for one hour every day after the regular class hours. Similarly the academically good students will also get an enrichment of the subject-knowledge, for 4 hours in a week.

Resourceful Library

The College Library has a large number and editions of Text and Reference Books, Educational CD/ DVD, study material for CET, NEET, IIT-JEE, AFMC, AIIMS, designed and prepared by eminent authors.

Proctoring

The unique proctorial system which is in place at WIDIA Poorna Prajna PU ensures extra care and special attention to all the students through a way of identifying and solving the problems of students. A batch of 10 students is attached to a lecturer for a span of two academic years, where in student gets guidance and help to face the challenges in the academics and also other curricular issues.

Parent - Teacher - Student Meeting

The college conducts regular Parents’ Meeting in the college with prior information to the parents.
It is compulsory for all the parents and guardians to attend the meeting on the fixed dates and time.
Along with the parents the student has to attend the meeting with all the required preparations, as told by the Proctor in charge of the student. This is an important step towards improving the academic performance of the student concerned and abstaining from attending this meeting will be viewed seriously. Prior permission to abstain or change of date has to be obtained from the Principal, in case of genuine reasons such as ill-health or travel.

Test and Examinations

At least 06 examinations will be conducted for both I and II PUC students in an academic year. Monthly Tests, Cycle Test, Term Examinations as prescribed by the Department. Preparatory Examinations and the Annual Examinations are compulsory for all the students. Evaluation of answer scripts will be done based on the Scheme of Valuation, immediately after the schedule of the examination and the provisional marks card with the result will be given to the student. The same will also be informed to the parent/guardian. College demands a signature of the parent/guardian on the photocopy of the marks sheet of the student and the same shall be submitted to the respective proctor by the student for follow up and records.

Extra Curricular Activities

Widia Poorna Prajna PU College lays equal importance in honing the extra curricular activities as academics. The students are encouraged to train themselves in various talents such as Art, Music, Theatre, Sports, Dance etc. The talents of students are show-cased in the yearly Talent Show – Kalanjali, and also in various inter-collegiate competitions. College gives the students tremendous opportunities to observe and learn from the holistic culture and its manifestations in these all the activities conducted throughout the year.

Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded by the college for those who do extremely well in the annual examinations. This apart names of meritorious students are recommended by the college through the PU Department for award of Merit Scholarship given by the Ministry of HRD., Govt. of India.

Dress Code

The College has prescribed uniforms for both boys and girls and they have to wear them on all week days except on Wednesday. Informal dress on Wednesdays must be decent and dignified.

General Rules & Regulations

  • During the class hours, no student is allowed to leave the college premises without the permission of the Principal
  • Transfer of candidates in the middle of the academic year is not entertained
  • To appear for the qualifying examination, the candidate must maintain 85% of attendance in all the subjects
  • Change of combination or language is not allowed after 10 days of Class commencement (I PU only)
  • Parents or guardians are not allowed to meet students or the Proctors during class hours. However they can meet the Principal and the Lecturers with Prior Appointment on Monday to Friday
  • If a student has to go out of station, prior permission must be obtained by Parents / Guardians from the Principal
  • In order to abstain from attending the classes due to genuine reasons, the student has to request the Proctor through a leave application in advance, duly signed by the Parent / Guardian. In case of emergencies, the Parent / Guardian has to inform the college authorities without fail
  • Students are not allowed to use Mobile Phone, FM Radio Set, I Pod, Camera, Laptop or any electronic gadget in the college premises, if found the gadgets will be confiscated and will not the returned
  • Hostel students are not allowed to leave or vacate the hostel without the permission of the On occasions of importance students have to obtain Principal’s permission to use the gadgets. Warden and the Principal of the college
  • Students are not allowed to ride / drive Bike, Scooter, Car or any motor vehicle in and near the college premises
